How To Calculate Gratuity In the UAE?

Gratuity is a lump sum amount paid to an employee at the end of their employment based on the years worked and their basic salary. To compute gratuity in Dubai, first determine your daily salary.

For the first five years you work, multiply your daily salary by 21 days for each year. If you work more than five years, you calculate 21 days’ pay for each of the first five years, plus 30 days’ pay for each additional year. Add these amounts together to get your total gratuity payment.

Gratuity Calculation Formula

Here is the formula for gratuity computation in the UAE:

For 1 to 5 years of service:
Gratuity=(Basic Salary/30) ×21×Years of Service

For more than 5 years of service:
Gratuity=( 30/Basic Salary ×21×5)+( 30 Basic Salary ×30×(Years of Service−5))

Let me explain UAE end of service calculation with a simple example:

Suppose your basic monthly salary is AED 12,000 and you have worked for 6 years.
🔹 First, calculate your daily wage
12,000 ÷ 30 = 400
So, the daily wage is 400 AED per day.
🔹 For the first 5 years of service
400 × 21 × 5 = 42,000
So, gratuity for 5 years = 42,000 AED.
🔹 For the 6th year (beyond 5 years)
400 × 30 × 1 = 12,000
So, gratuity for 1 additional year = 12,000 AED.
🔹 Total gratuity
42,000 + 12,000 = 54,000 AED
Therefore, your total end-of-service gratuity would be 54,000 AED.

With the help of the above calculations, formula, and example, you will be able to calculate your gratuity easily. If you are working in Dubai, must use metro and NOL card balance check for budget travel.
